Anthropology

Sarah Phillips is Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Russian and East European Institute at Indiana University Bloomington. Her research focuses on Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, especially Ukraine and Russia, examining postsocialist transformations, civil society and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), gender studies, medical anthropology, post-Chernobyl health and healing, folk medicine, and disability studies. She is the author of Disability and Mobile Citizenship in Postsocialist Ukraine and Women’s Social Activism in the New Ukraine.
